Merino sheep wool is exceptionally high-quality wool. Products made from 'curly' merino wool are fluffy and soft, which enhances their ability to insulate heat. Warmth is felt in both cold and hot weather. Wool absorbs moisture very well: if the air humidity is 100%, the wool can absorb even 40 % moisture without feeling wet. When wool absorbs moisture, numerous chemical reactions occur in it, releasing heat into the environment while the fabric itself remains warm, it allows the body to adapt to temperature fluctuations. Moisture evaporates from wool quite slowly: the outer wool layer (cuticula) consists of tiny micropores that allow the fabric to breathe – the pores are so tiny that water, in the form of droplets, cannot penetrate the fabric surface, so moisture escapes only through the outer pores, while preventing water from penetrating inside. The human body regulates body temperature by enhancing surface blood circulation and, if necessary, by sweating, so the unique property of wool to allow air and water vapor to pass provides a feeling of comfort. The twisting of wool fibers into curls gives elasticity and flexibility. Elasticity ensures that heat insulation does not disappear even after wearing the garment for a long time.
